More Filipinos now willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19

64 percent of adult Filipinos are now willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, higher than the previous 55 percent in June

More Filipinos are now willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 compared to the previous months, according to the latest survey by pollster Social Weather Stations.

The result of the survey released on Friday, November 6, showed that 64 percent of adult Filipinos are now willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, higher than the previous 55 percent in June.

“The latest percentage of those willing to get vaccinated is 9 points above the 55% in June 2021,” noted SWS in its report. “It is twice as high as the 32% in May 2021, when SWS first surveyed about it,” it added.

The 64 percent comprises 25 percent who are already fully vaccinated, 10 percent who have received one dose, 23 percent who said they will surely get vaccinated, and six percent saying they will probably get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 19 percent of those surveyed said they are uncertain if they want to be vaccinated against the new coronavirus while 18 percent said they are not willing to get a COVID-19 shot.

SWS said those uncertain about getting vaccinated against the virus fell from 24 percent in June and 35 percent in May, while those unwilling to receive the COVID-19 jab fell from 21 percent in June 2021 and 33 percent in May.

The pollster conducted the survey from September 27-30 using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults nationwide – 300 each in Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao, and 600 in Balance Luzon.

The survey’s sampling error margins are ±2.5 percent for national percentages, ±6 percent for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and ±4 percent for Balance Luzon, according to the polling firm.

The government this week announced that it is eyeing to achieve its targeted average daily vaccination rate of at least 1 million up to 1.5 million doses beginning November 30.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the National Task Force against COVID-19 said the government also targets to administer at least 15 million doses of coronavirus vaccines before the end of the month.

To achieve this goal, Galvez said there is a need to activate about 4,000 to 5,000 vaccination sites operating nationwide that can accommodate at least 500 vaccinees daily.

He said that if these sites can vaccinate up to 1,000 individuals once operational, the targeted five million doses weekly will be achievable.

“We will be utilizing the [shopping] malls, universities, schools, gyms, military/police camps, and function hall of the different government agencies,” he said in a report on the Philippine News Agency.

The latest data of the National COVID-19 Vaccination dashboard showed the Philippines has already administered a total of 60,406,424 doses, with 27,749,809 individuals already fully vaccinated and 32,656,615 others have received the first dose.

The average daily vaccination rate in the last seven weeks has slightly slowed down to 511,434 doses, compared to the previous week’s 522,272 doses due to the observance of the All Saints’ Day holiday.
