Catholic nuns in the Archdiocese of Trivandrum in Kerala in India have been credited with “unknotting” family problems and “refreshing” Christian life in communities.
The nuns, meanwhile, said the home visits have revitalized their vocation.
“I received lots of positive energy when people told me that our visits were a big blessing for them,” said Missionary Sisters of the Queen of Apostles nun Felcy Mangalath.
Sister Mangalath is among 25 nuns from 25 congregations who have been visiting families in the archdiocese since 2016 as part of their Home Mission program.
“People also told us that our visits have brought a new light to their homes and their neighborhood,” Sister Mangalath told Global Sisters Report.
The Home Mission is an attempt by the bishops of Kerala to implement Pope Francis’ 2016 call to strengthen families, said Father Suresh Pius, director of Basic Christian Community in Trivandrum Archdiocese.
