Filipinos visit temples, light incense sticks, and pray on February 1 to welcome the Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year.

Although predominantly Catholic, Filipinos are highly influenced by Chinese culture even before the arrival of Spanish colonizers in the 1500s.
