Ramadan, considered one of the pillars of Islam, is observed by over 1.7 billion Muslims across the world through fasting and praying

Muslim Filipinos gather for noon prayers at the Marikina Islamic Grand Mosque in the Philippine capital on Thursday, March 23, 2023, as Muslims around the world mark the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. greeted the Muslim community, saying that the season of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving “is an opportune time to embody the values of discipline, reverence, and humility.”

He called on Filipinos to include in their prayers “those who are in deep distress caused by hunger, natural calamities, and unfavorable circumstances.”
