Pope Francis has declared the establishment of a “School of Prayer” to delve into various aspects of every Christian’s “breath of faith.”
The announcement was made by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelisation, during a press conference at the Holy See Press Office on Tuesday.
The Year of Prayer, dedicated to rediscovering the importance of prayer in personal life, the life of the Church, and the world, aims to prepare Catholics for the upcoming 2025 Jubilee.
Pope Francis urged the faithful “to pray more fervently to prepare ourselves to live properly this grace-filled event and to experience the power of hope in God.”
Archbishop Fisichella emphasized the Dicastery’s commitment to supporting the Year of Prayer, offering materials to Episcopal Conferences and Diocesan Jubilee representatives.
The preparations for the Holy Year 2025 continue, and pilgrims can access information about the Jubilee at www.iubilaeum2025.va and through the dedicated app.
The Year of Prayer is not marked by specific initiatives but serves as a time to rediscover the value of prayer and its necessity in the daily Christian life.
In the age of digital culture, the Dicastery seeks to educate people on effective and fruitful prayer.
Archbishop Fisichella described the Year of Prayer as an opportunity for spiritual rest, an oasis from daily stress where prayer becomes nourishment for the Christian life of faith, hope, and charity.
The Dicastery has prepared a series of materials and prayer aids, forming a “symphony” of prayer forms for both the Christian community and individual believers.
To accompany meditation and understanding of prayer, the Dicastery suggests revisiting the 38 catechetical talks given by Pope Francis between May 2020 and June 2021.
