Myanmar villagers protest Chinese owned coal-fired plant

    Locals living near of the Chinese-owned Tigyit power plant in Myanmar’s Shan State having been conducting protests.

    In the above video, Radio Free Asia speaks to some of the villagers who say pollution from the controversial plant is ruining their agricultural land and endangers their health.

    The villagers are concerned that plans to expand coal extraction in the area will only worsen the situation.

    Locals have been protesting against the plant since Oct. 30 last year.
