Caritas India launches App for migrants

The App dubbed “Pravasi Bandhu” was jointly released by Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore and Manjunath Gangadhara, labor commissioner of Bengaluru

Caritas India launched on Wednesday, May 25, an App for migrants at a national conference on migration in Bengaluru, capital of the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

The App dubbed “Pravasi Bandhu” was jointly released by Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore and Manjunath Gangadhara, labor commissioner of Bengaluru.

The application, which is available on android mobile phones via the play store, was launched at the conference, which carried the theme “Building lives of migrants today for a sustainable tomorrow: Migration and SDGs.”

Gangadhara assured support for Caritas India’s efforts to help the migrants and requested the Catholic aid agency to share the recommendations of the conference.

Father Paul Moonjely, Caritas India executive director, said the organization will act on the conference’s recommendations and collaborate with other organizations to help migrants.
