The Society of Pilar congregation in India has organized a community festival dubbed “Sadbhav Mahotsav” that was participated by about 200 young people from various faiths in Goa on October 1.
The participants joined an “experiential walk” in a farm and horticulture garden where they interacted with officials of the directorate of agriculture.
“The aim of the festival was to infuse students with universal values of harmony, peace, brotherhood, and especially the urgency of protecting and caring for Mother Earth,” said Father Elvis Fernandes, convenor of the event.
As part of the activities, the participants had to create a painting on the theme “celebrating the sower, seed, soil and sustainer.”
There was also a panel discussion on the theme “Challenges and prospects of preserving, promoting, and sustaining agriculture in Goa.”
Farmers and villagers joined the activity and prepared lunch for the participants.
