The Second International Meeting on Meaning is currently underway at the Vatican’s New Synod Hall, bringing together more than a hundred leaders from diverse religious, cultural, and academic backgrounds to explore new ways of building a culture of encounter in response to global challenges.
Organized by Scholas Occurrentes and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the three-day gathering runs until Thursday, May 29.
At the heart of the meeting is a reflection on Pope Francis’ legacy in promoting intergenerational dialogue and the “search for meaning,” especially among young people facing uncertainty and fragmentation in today’s world.
One of the key moments of the event will be the unveiling of the Scholas 2030 Plan, which outlines the organization’s educational roadmap for the next ten years across five continents.
The opening ceremony, held Tuesday, featured remarks from José María del Corral and Enrique Palmeyro, global directors of Scholas, alongside Christian Asinelli, CAF’s Corporate Vice President for Strategic Programming.
The closing ceremony, set for Thursday, will include Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, who is expected to speak on the role of culture and education in shaping a more human future.
