Chinese Catholic Church aids post-flood health efforts in Guizhou’s Rongjiang county

In the wake of consecutive floods that struck Rongjiang County in Guizhou Province last moht, the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association and Bishops’ Conference of the Catholic Church in China directed Jinde Charities to assist in the disaster response.

Under the commission of the Church leadership and with support from relevant authorities, Jinde Charities coordinated with clergy and lay faithful from across the country to quickly implement a relief plan.

Starting July 1, Jinde Charities collaborated with the China Foundation for Rural Development to deploy 30 professionals to carry out disinfection work in over ten villages and communities in Rongjiang County where road clearing had been completed.

By July 3, major disinfection operations had been conducted in heavily affected areas including Nanmen Village, Liziyuan, and the fifth and sixth residential committees.

The work covered a total area of 85,000 square meters and benefitted more than 20,000 residents, with a total investment of 110,000 yuan.

Relief efforts are still ongoing, according to a report by xinde.org
