Village officials in an urban poor community in Quezon City in the Philippine capital distribute relief packs to households that have been placed under “special concern lockdown” starting August 6, 2021, due to the rising number of coronavirus disease cases in the area.

Residents in areas under “special concern lockdown” are not allowed to go out of their homes. The national capital region has been placed under the strict “Enhanced Community Quarantine” for two weeks starting August 6 to contain the spread of COVID-19 infections. (Photos by Jire Carreon)
