New Year’s gift of faith: ‘Moving the Mountain’ inspires visually impaired

A heartwarming story of faith, perseverance, and divine intervention unfolded in December last year, reminding us of God’s infinite mercy and His ability to work through unexpected circumstances.

On Dec. 24, a young lawyer reached out to VVS Charitable Foundation, founded by Mary Sarindhorn Mativachranon, affectionately known as “Nui.”

The lawyer, inspired by a divine call, was determined to make the inspirational book Moving the Mountain, authored by Mary Sarindhorn, accessible as an audiobook for the visually impaired. However, her mission was far from easy.

The lawyer had spent over three months searching for the book, which was no longer available on the market.

Her journey led her to second-hand bookshops, where she finally discovered a copy—remarkably, a copy that Nui herself had gifted to a friend nine years earlier.

Overwhelmed by the chain of events, the lawyer was convinced of God’s hand in the process and felt it essential to connect with Nui to bring the audiobook project to life.

Story Behind Moving the Mountain

Moving the Mountain is more than just a book; it is a testament to God’s love and mercy.

Written by Nui after a life-altering journey of false accusations, 14 years of perseverance, and eventual exoneration, the book chronicles her spiritual awakening and decision to forgive those who wronged her.

First published in Thai in 2009 as a gift to guests at Nui’s 60th birthday, the book later reached international audiences through an English edition, with proceeds donated to various charitable causes.

Nui has shared her story on prominent platforms, including TV shows and global Catholic conferences, inspiring countless people with her message of hope and faith.

New Year’s Blessing

The upcoming audiobook project promises to be a New Year’s gift for the blind, offering them the chance to experience the powerful story of Moving the Mountain.

For Nui, this initiative is yet another way to share God’s blessings.

Reflecting on the experience, Nui shared, “If one’s heart is overflowing with God’s love and blessing, you can’t keep it for yourself. It will spill over.”

Through the lawyer’s perseverance and Nui’s unwavering faith, this project embodies the spirit of giving and God’s mercy as we enter a new year.

As we look forward to 2025, this story reminds us of the transformative power of faith and the importance of sharing God’s love with others.

Let us continue to be vessels of His blessings in our communities and beyond.
