The Holy Family Convent in Sancoale hosted a Workers’ Day celebration on April 30 to recognize the contributions of support staff serving in the Congregation’s communities across Goa, India.
The event was held a day ahead of the global observance of Labor Day.
Organized by the Congregation as a gesture of gratitude, the celebration began with a prayer service that offered space for reflection and thanksgiving.
Superior General Sr. Berna Rodrigues addressed the gathering, expressing appreciation for the workers’ dedication.
Her brief remarks “resonated with warmth,” according to organizers, and underscored the essential role of support staff in advancing the Congregation’s mission.
Among the highlights of the program was a self-introduction session, allowing workers to speak about themselves and their roles.
Organizers said the activity aimed to promote confidence, self-reliance, and a stronger sense of connection within the community.
Workers also gathered before a bust of the Congregation’s Founder to offer prayers of petition through his intercession—an act described as a moment of deep faith and spiritual inspiration.
The event continued with games, food, and the distribution of tokens of appreciation. Prizes were also awarded to winners of the games. Sisters who work alongside the support staff in various departments joined the celebration.
Organizers said the gathering was “more than a celebration,” calling it “a sign of communion and participation” that highlighted the shared values of faith, service, and community.
The half-day event concluded with a communal meal, as workers departed with what organizers described as “cherished memories of the celebration.”
