Caritas Hanoi extends aid to storm-hit communities in northern Vietnam

The social action arm of the Archdiocese of Hanoi has provided assistance to residents of northern Vietnam affected by storms.

According to Caritas Hanoi, the organization visited several northern mountainous areas that were heavily impacted by the storms to deliver support and relief goods to affected families.

On October 25, 2025, Father Peter Ta Van Thang, deputy director of Caritas Hanoi, joined the relief program in Trung Khanh and Tra Linh under the Diocese of Lang Son–Cao Bang.

The team distributed aid to 134 households that experienced severe flooding. In Coc Phat Hamlet, Pac Vau, 62 of 67 households were flooded, while in Cao Xuyen Hamlet, 61 of 67 households were affected.

The group also went to Thanh Cong Mission in Na Ri, led by Father Giuse Nguyen Van Son, where 50 households live.

Caritas Hanoi reported that “some areas of the mission are still deeply submerged in water, especially the basin area—where our brothers and sisters live.”

On October 27, 2025, Father Peter Tran Ngoc Lam, director of Caritas Hanoi, accompanied another relief mission in Ha Giang City.

The delegation visited two pastoral points—Ha Giang 2–Tuyen Quang and Ma Le village in Lung Cu commune—where many families experienced losses after the storm.

Caritas Hanoi said the visits “bring sympathy, prayers and love from the community of God’s people of the Archdiocese of Hanoi to our brothers and sisters in difficulty.”

The organization added that the initiative reflects its commitment to the principle that “charity is the way of the Church.”
