Eid'l Fitr marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan

Filipino Muslims celebrated Eid’l Fitr to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan with prayers and sharing of food on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

The observance usually begins at sunset on the night of the first sighting of the crescent moon and is celebrated for one to three days, depending on the country.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared April 21 a holiday to allow the Filipino people to join the Muslim community in observing the solemn and festive occasion “for we recognize the Islamic faith and embrace it as part of our own collective consciousness.” (Photos by Angie de Silva)
