A new prayer initiative has taken root in the Diocese of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, as a “Rosary Group” was formally established in the parish of Huangzhou.
The group, which aims to pray for the intentions of Pope Francis, the diocese, and the parish community, was launched on the first Sunday of Lent during a solemn Mass attended by parishioners.
According to Vatican’s Fides News Agency, a total of 45 women were inducted as the founding members of the group. Each received a mandate from the parish priest, along with a Rosary and a reproduction of the “Miraculous Medal.”
Dressed in Pilgrim of Hope scarves featuring the Jubilee logo, the members publicly demonstrated their commitment to Marian devotion.
The congregation witnessed the moment, reinforcing their spiritual connection to Pope Francis, who remains hospitalized at the Gemelli hospital in Rome as he nears the 12th anniversary of his papacy.
During the Mass, the parish priest underscored the role of women in the family, the Church, and society. He emphasized that participation in the Rosary Group could strengthen faith and encourage families to take up the practice of daily prayer.
The members were divided into five smaller units, each forming a “Rosary Chain,” wherein every participant commits to praying a chaplet of the Rosary.
Each member was assigned two specific prayer intentions: the Pope’s monthly intention and another tied to the diocese’s needs.
