Photos: Philippine diocese marks Diamond Jubilee

"We have responded to the signs of the times, and we received a lot of blessings, so let us give thanks for all these years”

The Diocese of Borongan opened its year-long celebration of its Diamond Jubilee on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Crispin Varquez at Borongan Cathedral.

“We have responded to the signs of the times, and we received a lot of blessings, so let us give thanks for all these years,” said the prelate in his homily.

On Oct. 22, 1960, Pope John XIII issued the apostolic bull, “Quod sacri,” creating the Diocese of Borongan. The first bishop of the diocese was Bishop Vicente Reyes who was installed on April 11, 1961. (Photos by Alren Beronio)

Support Our Mission

We work tirelessly each day to tell the stories of those living on the fringe of society in Asia and how the Church in all its forms - be it lay, religious or priests - carries out its mission to support those in need, the neglected and the voiceless.
We need your help to continue our work each day. Make a difference and donate today.
