The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand (CBCT), in partnership with Saengtham College and the Society of Jesus (Jesuits of Thailand), has officially inaugurated “Sangtham College, Xavier Campus, Chiang Rai.”
The occasion follows the approval of the Saengtham College Council at its third meeting in 2022, held on July 22.
The establishment of Sangtham College, Xavier Campus, marks a significant step in the collaborative efforts between the bishops’ Conference and the Jesuits.
The partnership aims to contribute to the holistic development of Christians and the broader community in Thailand.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on Thursday, December 14, 2023, solidifying the commitment of both entities to this educational endeavor. The objectives outlined in the MOU reflect the shared vision of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Thailand and the Jesuits:
The primary goal of Sangtham College, Xavier Campus, is to upgrade the Xavier Learning Community into an institution of higher education for the Thai Church.
This collaborative effort seeks to enhance the educational landscape by fostering the development of individuals in both their faith and academic pursuits.
A key focus of the newly established institution is to provide expanded educational opportunities, particularly benefiting ethnic youths in Chiang Rai and neighboring provinces.
The curriculum will place a special emphasis on English education, integrating knowledge with religion and culture to offer a well-rounded educational experience.
