Pope Francis convened with interfaith leaders at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Addressing approximately 500 attendees, including religious and belief leaders, community figures, and government officials, the pontiff endorsed a new cooperative initiative.

During the visit, he traversed the ‘Tunnel of Friendship’, which links the Cathedral Church to Istiqlal Mosque, and signed the “Joint Declaration of Istiqlal 2024: Strengthening Interfaith Harmony for Humanity.”
